Author Statement
I started out with an idea for a story that was really cool and would have made a great story, but it would have been way too long and I had no idea how to end it. So I went with my second idea. I came up with it when I was in class and I was really bored and I swear the clock was moving slower, and that got me thinking. What if I could really make time slow down, and I decided to give my main character that power.
The two main characters in the story are Izzie and Grayson. I hated the typical thing to do which was to have them fall in love, so I made their relationship platonic, meaning they were only friends. Grayson is actually gay. It wasn’t brought up in the story because it wasn’t really relevant to the plot line, so I left it out. I liked how they were a little different from characters I’ve read about in many books.
The most difficult part to write was the end. I find in short stories the ending is always very forced and rushed. I also had trouble writing the part when Izzie slows down time. I didn’t want to make it boring, and it was hard to do that when little was happening.
Overall, I liked how my story turned out. I liked how they ending was open and there were endless possibilities. It was cool concept and I wanted to make something other than aliens and robots, and I managed to do that while still making it sci-fi.
